Pup-Approved Safety Guidelines

We know safety and enrichment is your top dog priority, so here’s the scoop on keeping your pup's EverChew experience pawsitive and worry-free:

  • Dishwasher Safe: SafetyChew can handle a spin in the dishwasher—no sweat!
  • Not a Toy: SafetyChew is all about the chew, not the playtime. Be sure to remove the holder and pin when about an inch of the chew remains.
  • Chew the Chew: If your doggo is more interested in the holder than the chew, a little training may be needed to keep the focus on the tasty part. This can be common for puppies.
  • Pups Only: This product is for canine consumption only—no hoomans or hoomoms allowed!
  • Inspect Regularly: While SafetyChew is tough, it’s not indestructible . Keep an eye out for small pieces that might break off, but don’t worry—the medical-grade polymer will pass safely through your pup's system if consumed.
  • Stay Secure: Even if there are toothmarks, as long as the black pin latch is secure, the holder will keep the chew in place, so your pup can chew safely.
  • Supervision Required: As with any treat or chew, don’t leave your furry friend alone—regular check-ins keep things safe.
  • Hydration is Key: Always have fresh water available for your dog during chew sessions.
  • Keep Out of Reach: SafetyChew, pin, and chews should be kept out of reach of children and other curious critters.

Finn (cattle dog/boxer) and Cora (husky mix) Love their SuperChew Holders!

We got the bully stick holder for our puppy, Finn, for safe chewing, and he loves it. We recently added another shelter pup, Cora, so we bought a second holder. We continued with this product because it has held up really well. The first holder is pretty rough from all the use, but is still working well.

I have a 3-month-old puppy and I looked everywhere for things that would be safe for her

I have a 3-month-old puppy and I looked everywhere for things that would be safe for her. She loves her ever chew holder and the natural bully stick. She carries it everywhere. She plays with it by tossing it in the air and chasing it. It has been the best thing to keep her busy and to help with her anxiety when I leave the house. I recommend this for anybody who has a new puppy, a middle-aged dog, or an elderly dog.

Longtime fan of SafetyChew Holders and Bully Sticks

I've used the SafetyChew holders and bully sticks for years, and recommended them to friends unreservedly. The stick are virtually odorless, which is a huge plus, and the holders are cleverly designed and easy to use. What a relief not to have to worry that my dogs might choke on a bully stick the moment my back is turned. And how nice to support a small business whose owners are so thoughtful and kind.

Frosty the Frenchie

I have a new-to-me 6-year-old French Bulldog, Frosty. I used to give the thick bully sticks to my much larger bassets, always in a holder so they couldn’t swallow the last inch whole. Well, little 25-lb Frosty can demolish a bully stick just as quickly as a 75-lb basset hound, so I’ve been getting him the thick sticks. They keep him busy whenever I’m on a Zoom meeting since I work from home. I’ve been ordering Ever-Chew Bully Sticks for years, and since they’re safe and Frosty loves them, I will continue being a regular customer.

Rico and Archie loves them and they have no odors which is a plus for me

Rico and Archie loves them and they have no odors which is a plus for me. Also it’s the only chews I give them since Ricofractured two molars with a yak chew stick. It’s was a $3,900 dental surgery and a 3 hour round trip. Bully sticks are the only chews I trust because they become mushy as they chew on them.

Bully Sticks=safe chews. Yak Chews=fractured molars $4k dentist bill

The only chews I trust giving to my fur babies ever since Rico fractured 2 molars chewing on Yak cheese sticks. Why take a chance on the health of your dogs teeth by giving them a chew like a yak chew, then having to pay a dentist bill of over $4k because they broke or fractured a molar or tooth. The safe chew holder and bully sticks are the best and safest option to give your fur babies to clean teeth, boredom busters, and the most important thing SAFE.

Frequently Asked Questions

No, neither the bully sticks or collagen chews are bleached. Our ranches only rely on fresh raw material and hygienic processing.

Never. EverChew's sticks are washed with lots of water, then heated with airflow. No bleaches, smoke liquids or other flavors or preservatives.

No, the plant is free of peanuts and soy. They deal in cow parts, partner.

Yes, every lot is tested for salmonella and E. coli before import from ranches in South America. Then at EverChew we spot-check boxes using a combination of a microbiology testing lab in Portland and internal tests. For the internal tests we wash any bacteria off the surface of sticks, allow any bacteria to grow in a warm broth overnight, and then test for E. coli and Salmonella using lateral flow assays.

Absolutely, our pre-drilled sticks come in Regular, Thick, and Jumbo refill bundles so you can re-stock anytime.

You can drill your own, but there are a few pitfalls. (1) The stick needs to fit into the holder--that's easy for the SafetyChew+ and SuperChew, but the smaller SafetyChew original has a smaller cener hole for the dog chew. (2) The hole must be drilled exactly through the center of the bully stick, or else it may not fit right into either of the holders. (3) The diameter of the drilled hole must be large enough for the locking pin to fit--without weaking the side walls of the hole. We have specially engineered drilling stations to make the hole exactly perfect. And each stick will fit the holder it's selected for. So you will actually have less wasted sticks because the self-drilled hole is bad.

We officially say they are good for 2 years after shipping to you. But they can be okay way longer than that. We have some bully sticks that are 5 years old in prototype display units and they are still okay--no smells, changes or anything. Bully sticks seem to be like the honey they recover from ancient tombs--still good to eat.

No. Rawhide is a layer of the hide with low digestability. Our collagen chews are a layer of the hide high in collagen, so it breaks down in the stomach/small intestine, so that it won't cause an intestional bloack. Our bully sticks are from a completely diffent part of the cow--100% muscle and fully digestible.

The sticks are very carefully rinsed and oven-baked to prevent odor. Most of our customers report a mild to no-odor experience, especially compared to most other brands.

No way. We pre-drill each EverChew stick so it slides onto the SafetyChew pin right out of the pack. But mamy people do drill their own sticks--the hard part is keeping the drill bit in the center of the stick. We've gotten that part perfected.

Most bully sticks soften as they're chewed, so they peel ino strips rather than splinter, so they're much safer than dried bones or antlers. We've seen a couple of brands that appear to overbake thir sticks and they become brittle, but msot don't. And our collagen chew sticks definitely don't splinter either. They also soften as they're chewed.

Chew time varies by dog size and chew style of course, but our 6-inch sticks keep moderate chewers busy 30-60 minutes. And if you can watch your dog and make sure that they don't start chewing just on the holder, you can let them lick and nibble on the trapped stub for up to hours over many chew sessions.

The regulars are about half an inch diameter, while the thicks are about 0.75 inches. Jumbos go up from there. Although it impecise since only about have of the chews are cylindrical. So we visually average the end profile to estimate a diameter. And we drill the hole in the smaller end.

Superchewer dogs should use the black nylon SuperChew holder, if they're medium to smaller, then Thick sticks may work. Go for Jumbo sticks for bigger dogs.

Each holder has it's own starter pack of the holder and three pre-drilled bully sticks. Open the pouch, load the stick, and your dog can chew right away.

Two years easy, just keep them dry and they'll stay fresh. But we have sticks that are several years old that are still good. Our dogs have eaten very old sticks from "display" pieces that got knocked down to the floor, and there were no issues.

We source from a small number of trusted ranches in South America. They hand wash and bake the pizzle. Every lot is tested for Salmonella and E. coli before import. We then spot-check shipment ourselves.

We doo drill the 12" bully sticks near the center, but yes we drill the 6" sticks near one end. We found most dogs prefer that approach so the stick stands upright so it's easier to chew. And it may mean less mess on the couch/floor/whereever.

Bully sticks shouldn't splinter. But because of the way they are cut and drilled, our bully sticks will fray. These frayed edges are soft and safe to chew up.

The locking pin slides through the hole to undefeatably lock the stick, not just grip the surface like all other holders. The bully stick or collagen chew cannot come out even when wet and slippery. Our drilled sticks are centered perfectly for the pin, That's why we recommend our refill sticks over trying to drill your own.

EverChew's bully sticks are low-odor because we only source from a couple of ranches that take extra care wehn washing the pizzles. There may be some trapped odor in the air-tight pouch, but each stick out in the open has very little odor.

Maybe, the stick must be small enough to fit into the hole (of the holder you have, there are 3 sizes), and the hole must be large enough for the pin to pass through. The hole must also be drilled in the center of the stick or the pin still may not fit.

Bully sticks are slow-baked and dried, not raw. This process makes them shelf-stable, kills bacteria, and gives them that hard, long-lasting texture your dog loves.

Yes, as soon as your vet clears them for hard chews, usually around 12 weeks. Start with a thinner stick and supervise until you learn your pup's chew style. If you're worried that the stick is still too hard, you can soak the end in water for a few minutes to start the chew-softwning process.

If your dog can tolerate beef products at all, then yes, they can enjoy our chews. They're single-protein and grain-free.

Yes, each stick is 100% grass-fed beef pizzle (from boy cows), nothing else. No antibiotics, hormones, or fillers. Just slow-baked protein your pup can digest.

Absolutely. There's a gentle scraping action that's like nature's toothbrush, helping reduce/scrape away plaque and tartar while your dog is in joyous delight.

They're helpful but not a full substitute for brushing, keep brushing or using dental wipes esp. if your vet says you need to.

Sure, 15 minutes in the freezer adds a soothing cool factor and slightly extends chew time.

We don't recommend it, because it heats unevenly and curls and shrinks ans stinks bad. If you want to soften it for your dog just soak the end in water for a bit.

Absolutely. You just need to let it dry out so it won't mold. We just set ours on a shelf and then hand it back down later.

They should not. Occasionally we hear of dogs having issues with beef (manybe even an allergy), but with some experimenting you can figure out what's causing the problem. If there are issues, take a break from the sticks for a while and then reintroduce then after things are settled.

Chewing reduces plaque bacteria, which is a root cause of stinky dog breath.

Yes, the pressure soothes sore gums just like a teether does for a baby.

Our bully sticks and collagen chews don't have any added dyes. And we've never experienced a stain on furnature or a corpet.

Most vets recommend one bully stick every day or two. But bully sticks should stay under 10% of your dog's total calories. If you're still in doubt, check with your vet.

Daily is fine for many dogs, but watch the calories--especially for less active dogs. Your vet can give you personalized guidance based on your dog's diet and weight.

We just leave a partially chewed stick in the holder for the dog to revisit. But you shouldn't seal up a stick that's still wet because it could mold, but you can seal it up after you let it dry out. If the sticks aren't wet, you can store in a bag or jar as you wish. They are even okay to just keep out in the open. We keep our sticks in a open bin on the garage shelf so we can grab one quickly.

It is completely expected that the stick gets slimey and slippery. That's why we say other holder will fail sometimes, while EverChew's holders are undefeatable.

Try a smear of peanut butter, cream cheese, or wet food on the tip. You can also soak the end in warm water for a but to make it easier to start chewing and that also releases some wonderful-to-dogs smells.

We partner with USDA-approved facilities in the USA and South America that raise free-range, grass-fed cattle for human consumption. And our source Ranches take extra care to wash them better before drying so that most of the "stink" is removed. Our chews are then hand-selected in the US for quality and fit. We end up paying more for our sticks because our suppliers know we have rejected some before and sent them back.

They're pure muscle, slow-processed, and sourced from human-grade cattle. And they only come from boy cows that only have 1 pizzle each.

Color of the bully sticks varies with the age and diet of the cattle and baking time, and even where it is in the oven. So color is cosmetic, not quality related.

It shouldn't. But start by letting the dog chew just a bit of the stick at first.

Many dogs find the repetitive gnawing soothing, and the holder keeps them engaged longer for a true chill session.
