How the designs differ
Two designs press against the stick. Only EverChew locks through it.
Screw / Twist Pressure
Twist-screw holders
A plastic or metal screw applies pressure to the side of the bully stick. One product states, "Twist until snug and recheck during supervised chewing". No rechecking with a SafetyChew.
Friction / Grippers
Friction-style holders
Rubber or flexible gripper fingers squeeze around the chew. These are the most difficult to install since the chew must be twisted in.

In May 2026, user Randy Brian at medium.com published their pull-force comparison--measuring how much weight was required to pull a dry bully stick out of each holder.

What this test does — and does not — show
The testing video clips by the test's author show an informal test environment, and not an industrial testing lab. It measured pull-out force of a dry bully stick, using a constant torque to tighten against the stick. Sticks that become wet and slippery by chewing will pull out of the friction mechanisms much easier.

I have a 3-month-old puppy and I looked everywhere for things that would be safe for her. She loves her ever chew holder and the natural bully stick. She carries it everywhere. She plays with it by tossing it in the air and chasing it. It has been the best thing to keep her busy and to help with her anxiety when I leave the house. I recommend this for anybody who has a new puppy, a middle-aged dog, or an elderly dog.

I love this!
I love this for keeping my 72 lb Labrador from swallowing a large chunk of the pizzle. I just wish it was less expensive so I could by one every month as they tend to get pretty chewed up. But I like this one over the hard plastic black one that gets very sharp edges when it gets chewed on.
