Bully Stick stub is gone? But holder and pin are intact?
The EverChew holder with a locking pin to make holding a bully stick undefeatable. That way the dog can't choke on a swallowed bully stick stub. But if you leave the holder with the dog, the stick may be gone when you next look, but the holder is still assembled. We explain how the dog's slobber softens the stick so they can tear it out in tiny pieces until a small unchokeable piece can fall off the pin.

Kirby here with EverChew, giving a little explanation on how your dog might make the stick disappear from the ring without breaking it or removing the pin. When a dog normally eats a bully stick through an EverChew holder, they chew it down to this point, and if you take it from them, that’s usually the remainder you get. However, some dogs don’t tear up the ring much—especially with the black nylon ring, which is very tough. You might see a few frayed edges like this one, but that just shows they’ve worked on it for quite a while.
What my dogs, Rosie and Wally, like to do is work on the fibers of the stick. Because the stick can twist slightly due to the pin, they’ll chew one side and then switch to the other. If you look at the stick remnant that’s left, you can see debris and fibers hanging off it. They’ve worked both sides down pretty well. I stopped them before they finished so I could show you.
As the dogs pull at the fibers, the stick gradually thins out and takes on a shape that’s not really a choking or blockage hazard. I’m comfortable letting my dogs keep working at it until they remove the last bit. It usually takes them an hour or two, and in the process, they clean their front teeth nicely.
So if your dog does the same thing, it’s generally fine—just keep an eye on the ring to make sure they’re not tearing it up too much.
Thanks for watching.
